In collaboration with Microsoft, DTU Science Park and Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, IRIS Group has conducted a profile analysis of Lyngby-Taarbæk – The City of Knowledge. The purpose of the report and analysis is to present facts on the potential for developing an Innovation District.

The analysis shows that:

• Many large, knowledge-intensive companies, or “anchor companies”, have chosen to locate in the City of Knowledge and neighbouring municipalities.
• Start-up rates for knowledge-intensive industries are higher than in other Danish university cities.
• A unique ecosystem for knowledge-based start-ups has developed around The Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
• The municipality has a high concentration of highly educated citizens.
• DTU is one of the leading technical universities in Europe with unique research strongholds.
• The municipality has a strong concentration of knowledge-intensive clusters that widely collaborate with DTU.
